Just before the full swing of Senior portrait sessions, in June I was asked to second assist a local Colorado photographer on a wedding ceremony. Becky of Becky Young Photography is hands down one of my favorite Wedding Photographers in the Denver area. In 2007-2008 I assisted Becky on over 10 weddings as an assistant photographer which helped me step into the wedding area myself.
I love working with her on her weddings, and with Becky it is always amazing to learn from her how to capture the story of two people declaring their love to each other, surrounded by friends and family. And being in Colorado, the weather brings challenges to all photographer weddings. I’ve been to the hottest of all days during a wedding and get caught in the middle of a downpour just as the couple say “I Do” with her and as recently, rain again! On my way down to Colorado Springs, I saw those gloomy clouds and just before I got into town it started to pour. Most of my second assist weddings with her are outdoors so I can tell you I got nervous but Becky will have her cool, calm about herself and that’s what you want in your photographer so I got cool and calm and knew all would be ok. Sure enough, just minutes before the ceremony, the clouds lifted, the rains parted and it was a lovely wedding outdoors.
Here are a few of my pictures from the day –

I love the “First Look” this is taken the moment the groom first lays eyes on his future wife and can be emotional and overwhelming.
