What is my favorite session after the Senior season is over? Family! I’ll photograph families all year long but since Susan B. photography was started, the primary time for family photographs are in the fall just in time to create and send holiday cards. The Leon family is a referral from a senior client (I love, love, love referrals!) Jennifer and her John and their lovely children came out on a windy day in the fall for some family pictures that eventually were made into their holiday card and portraits for their walls.
I learned all about their children; gymnastics, soccer, (future Legend Seniors!) and all about their favorite classes at school, shows they like on tv and games they played. During a family session I try to make everyone happy in the photos that we get, moments with dad and kids, mom with kids, edgy – fun images and I will ask the kids do they want something that I might have missed. So when their son asked if I would do a ‘vadering’ shot… I think it’s way cool that I got what he asked for and everyone loves it!
Vadering. What is it? Vadering is a photo fad that involves two people recreating the Star Wars scene in which Darth Vader uses the Force to grab an opposing character in a choke hold. Vadering. Completed… with a little edgy to it. You’ll see it. Let the force be with you and a little smile.
You’ll not only see some of their pictures from their session but their final selection and designed holiday card. From their session, we pick a few images and create a card to send to friends and family. I always suggest a few images on the front, with one large image on the back as a 5×7 which then makes a nice image for the receiving friends and family to frame.
Here are a few of my favorite images!
