Father’s Day is a celebration honoring fathers and celebrating fatherhood, paternal bonds, and the influence of fathers in society. In our home it is also known as ‘dad watches NASCAR all day’ but come to think of it, I think he watches NASCAR every weekend. I think there is less fuss on this day then the others. If you could think of one word that sums up your dad, what would that be? For my dad – STRONG is what comes to mind. For my husband Beau I think that word would be HERO, at least for me it would be. He is who the kids call when they need help financially. He is who they talk to when they have issues with their cars, their jobs, and other big important sound advice needed. I know I would give the same advice as well for most things discussed but it’s so much more official when talking to DAD.
I didn’t get a lot of Dad’s this past year, they are normally the one’s working hard for all of us. But let’s admit it, when they work hard, they play hard too. Vacations, weekend outings and family dinners that make us family is what it’s all about. Attending school concerts, plays, meetings, awards, scouting and so many other many things that we do is what makes being a parent so rewarding.
I’m pretty sure I speak for the dad’s when I say we go to bed exhausted and wake up ready to do it all over again…
So thank you dad’s – you rock our world!
