I was pretty excited when Alana’s mom contacted me for senior portraits. Finding out she’s a cross country runner got my brain spinning with cool ideas that I could photograph Alana in. I found out quickly a track is out of the question because she’s running l-o-n-g disssstance… Cross c-o-u-n-t-r-y. So no hurdle jumping? Baton passing? hmmmm think Susan, think. So while I think – I do take Alana to a new location that I have been searching for the past couple of years. We photographers will share some of our locations and spaces but not all of them and this was a hidden gem that I had seen with other photographers but had to find on my own. Practically in the Parker neighborhood, I feel in love with it right away and so did Alana. She had the cutest outfits for a 2020 senior and each image was just “oohhhh” worthy then the next. Then she came into the studio and I can’t say enough how much I love the ‘Senior Bibs’. I’m not sure when they are worn, or how often but for Regis Jesuit seniors, they are a big deal. A lot of work is put into the painter cover-alls and I love them. Each senior I have photographed (Emilie, Kelly) look so cute in them and their personalities match their bibs. Of course I had to get Alana with hers and she is ad-orable! But what she loves the most and I do too is her ‘Sports Composite’. I had her come into studio with her cross country gear, shoes and all and had her stand with a variety of poses with little adjustment to the lights. I then took it into post-development and created a poster, about the size of a movie poster and with some smoke filters and a textured background – her main image is her ‘Epic Poster’. I love doing these composites and at a movie poster size, this is now added to the Susan B. product line.

Alana – thanks for making cross country fun in the studio…
