When I talked to the Grandmother about the session, her 3 daughters who are in town, but all live out of state, two of them out of the country, getting everyone together for a family session would be an event. I remember writing down the details, two little 1 year old, twins who are 4. Ok, my hands will be full, but I’ve done this before – tres cool… till they arrived and I realized I was working with TWO sets of twins! The one year old little ones are twins too! Double the fun for me!! And getting 4 little adorable faces to look at me all at once was a challenge for all of us and was fun. The noises and sounds and funny faces that the parents were making behind must have been a sight. You can tell where the parents were standing behind me!

And the most behaved little ones too – I mean yes, all little 4 year olds and 1 year olds don’t want to do what mommy and daddy say, but these little ones were just amazing to work with. They told me their favorite ice cream (Chocolate of course) and the girls showed me their teeth when they smiled at me. They were a delight to work with and all just so cute.

And true to form – boys being boys, when I asked them to give their Auntie a kiss, one of them said yuck and the other tried to run away from her… but she got the last laugh and kissed them both on the checks.

Yesterday I had a photo session with a family that had this adorable little boy. A year ago – he was my very 1st child session, and his mom and I had trekked out to the pumpkin patch, in cloudy conditions, found some big pumpkins, propped him up and started taking pictures. Then it started raining on us.

We ended up hiding out under a big oak tree where I finished up his session in some what dry conditions – the photo to the right was selected as the best one – it went on to win contests and was printed in local newspapers. Not bad for a 1st time session – ever.

It’s the conditions that I work in that makes my photography so much fun. I think if I had perfect weather, in perfect conditions – it just wouldn’t be as fun. Of course I’m sure it would make it easier – but it’s the story of how I got the perfect shot in un-perfect conditions that makes me love it so much more.

But skip a year – he’s now walking, talking and calling the shots.

His mom wanted pictures of him with Dad, Mom and Ga-Ga (Grandma). So never looking at my instructions of where I am going till I really need to get there – I find myself heading west on I-70 into the mountains. I turn off at the Genesee exit and end up not half a mile from the Sleeper House. Ga-Ga owns a home that faces it every night – and she says when they throw parties up there – you can see the lights flashing (disco ball) all night long from her bedroom window.

I love this house. It is so cool. And every time we drive by it on I-70 – I never get enough looking at it, so when I end up being so close to it, and I stay for dinner with the family, I kid you not, I was starring out the window every few minutes to get a glimpse of the Sleeper House lit up.

But our photo session was awesome. Trying to keep up with a 2 year old without melt downs is a handful. And to listen to him talk and ask questions when I remember him from a year ago when he would just stare at me… he just cracked me up. Pure boy all the way. Picking up rocks and throwing them, sticks, snowballs… what ever his little hands could grasp or get dirty, he was into it. And the bravery of jumping off steps.

Hi it’s me – your wonderful daughter. Though I squirmed a little and did my own thing – Miss Susan took some great shots of us today. I had fun feeding the ducks, playing in the water and generally being a 2 year old. This is what Miss Susan thinks is my best shot, but as cute as I am, she couldn’t just pick one – but this is the one that made her gasp. I am adorable…

And lets not forget my adorable brother. He’s going to be picking on me one day – but for now, I like the role of bigger sister as in taller then him. He has such a twinkle in his eye, everyone falls in love with him on first sight.

Angie – you were all so much fun!! Thanks for the time out with you, Brandon and the kids… I’m going to have fun watching them grow up!!

Taken earlier this week. I was quickly reminded what it was like to have toddlers – and this little one and his sister just kept me going for a good full hour. How I got him to stand still for this is beyond me!

Taken this past weekend at a local photography group event.

Went to the local Easter Egg Hunt yesterday – and boy was I a goof! I accidentally set my settings to black and white – and you know Easter… colorful eggs, colorful children – and mine are all in black and white! Thank goodness, I was doing this for myself and not for a client! I was mortified! But I took what I had, and still found some great shots, even in black and white.
